Blogging, Being “Social”, New Projects and the New Year

Time Flies When You Are Having Fun!O.K. kind readers — you asked and I’ll answer. My recent posts here, in articles and on my other Blogs covered New Years Resolutions for Web site Owners, Business E-mail Etiquette Resolutions and Day-to-Day E-mail Etiquette Resolutions. These posts prompted a bunch-o-inquiries ranging from nice to nasty.

From “If you were to have online resolutions, I would be curious what someone like you would list. Can you share?” to “Since you seem to know it all, I bet you don’t have a single resolution yourself!” Ouch!

Well, I don’t know it all — never have I stated so. I do know allot though because I’ve been playing online for over 14 years. And, I have a ton of resolutions — not just now at the beginning of the year — but throughout the entire year as the days fly by and I don’t accomplish what I set out to do.

So I thought I would share my top 3 online resolutions with you today! They aren’t in any particular order as I feel they are all of equal importance on my perpetual to-do list:

  • Adding Visuals to my Blog Posts: In a recent post about Blogging mistakes, it was pointed out to me by a very astute commenter that I neglected to mention the importance of visuals, pictures, graphs, etc. While I didn’t include the lack of graphics as a mistake (probably because I don’t do so myself and as the commenter points out is allot of work), that was a valid point I overlooked and should have been included. I’m going to give it a try starting with this first post of the year and moving forward will add something visual to each and every post.
  • Completing My Backburner Projects: Right now I have 5 sites either in Beta or on the backburner that I just cannot find time to get up and running. I also have at least 15 domain names just begging for attention and a home of their own. This is a time management issue: clients first; last.
  • Be More Involved: I preachy but no doey here. I need to make the time to comment on other’s Blogs and social media pages — be the initiator instead of the passive responder. Usually, when I do participate it is because someone commented on one of my Blogs or profiles first. It’s not at all that I am standoffish — it’s a time thing.

I could go on — but it would get boring fast. Unlike most resolutions that have to do with embracing something you don’t like or don’t want to do, for me all my resolutions have to do with time — or lack thereof. I really want to do this stuff!

I am already at this keyboard 10 hours every day, Saturdays and even some crummy weather Sundays. What do you find hard to find the time for when it comes to your online business?
